Laboratory Assistant
Within this high-throughput chemistry testing laboratory, you will support and manage daily lab operation, holding a high level of responsibility for general laboratory conduct and ensuring company’s targets are met through effective scheduling and resourcing of daily work tasks.
RESPONSIBILITY:

Ensure efficient and timely operations, meeting internal commitments and minimising any down time or production delays.

Lab equipment/consumables purchasing, technical details discussions and price negotiation
-
Lab administration
-
Project reporting, updating and writing
-
Grant application
-
Measure and present KPIs
-
Planning, both short and long term
-
Ensure all Quality Control testing of finished products and intermediates is performed.
-
Ensure testing of raw materials, intermediates and finished products is performed.
-
Organise Validation and method development and method transfer activities
-
Author, review and/or authorise technical documents not limited to method development, validation, transfer, CSV, equipment
-
Review analytical and experimental work
-
Use of LIMS/LabSolutions/Eupry
-
Develop Specifications and Standard Operating Procedures including safe systems of work and approved for all activities and operations undertaken by Analytical lab staff; ensuring they are as per current GMP guidelines and pharmacopoeial requirements.

Drive change management for introduction of new / improved methods and validation of new equipment.
-
Training of new staff and ongoing training of staff in new or improved methods. Ensure training documents are kept up to date.

Promote safety within the laboratory areas, leading by example and guiding analysts, ensuring correct signage and maintaining COSHH documentation for safe operations within the lab.

Support inspections and audits of lab and related facilities and ensure that any adverse observations and findings are fully evaluated and suitable CAPA’s implemented and closed out in a timely manner to fully address the deficiencies raised.

To uphold company procedures and comply with UK chemical regulations at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
-
Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related discipline
-
Line management experience is a plus
-
Knowledge and experience of: purchase budgets, regulation updates and influence it has on the company

Experience in a fast paced, high growth environment
-
Produce effective reports to be distributed both internally/externally
-
Strong technical and statistical knowledge
-
a minimum of 3 years’ experience within a laboratory setting, have a flair for motivating and developing your team as well as an eye for identifying potential improvements in the laboratory.
